Executive Function Coaching
Executive functions (EFs) are a set of higher-order thinking skills. In short, they are life skills. They fall under a big umbrella, and provide the foundation for planning and initiating a task, regulating big emotions, problem-solving when a plan doesn’t work out, impulse control, and holding information in short-term memory.
Challenges with EF skills can show up anywhere from difficulty getting ready for school or bedtime, paying attention in class or at home, getting homework finished and turned in, navigating long-term projects, controlling big emotions, or problem-solving conflicts with family or peers.
If you feel like you are constantly repeating directions or saying your child’s name over and over and over again, this could be attributed to difficulties with executive functions.
I work with you and/or your child to improve these skills within your routines and environements:
Examples of tasks that rely heavily on executive functions skill:
✺ Getting ready for school, work, or bed
✺ Regulating emotions
✺ Transitioning between activities
✺ Managing a hectic schedule
✺ Independent play
✺ Completing schoolwork
Speech and Language Therapy
